So…at the ripe old age of 34andabit, I have decided that it might be time to start acting and looking like a girl. Not to say that if you don’t do these things you are not a girl – we all come in our own packages…mine just needs a little wrapping and some bows. Or glitter, or something.
I’ve been spending some time reading blogs on makeup and simple ways to jazz up my every day look. I not only work in a customer service environment, but I am face to face with Commercial clients on a daily basis. I kind of need to look the part. So, mixed in with some makeup I already own, I have started picking up some new brushes and makeup to work some magic. I have also been checking out you-tube (my go to source for tips and tricks on anything really) and making some strides in the ‘try not to look like a clown’ goal.
The other thing I have been looking into, is these beauty boxes that everyone has been talking about. The big one that everyone knows about is BirchBox, there are also other companies like Julep (mostly nail polish), Ipsy (very similar to Birchbox), Beauty Box 5 and Glossy Box. Some are more expensive ($21-$35 per month) and others are on the more “cost-effective” end of the scale ($10 per month).
After thinking about it a little bit, I decided to take the plunge and sign up for an Ipsy account (hello cute makeup bag), in the hopes that I might end up with some neat samples that I wouldn’t otherwise buy. This month I got my first package and I was pretty much blown away. For $10 of my hard earned money, I got goodies that I worked out to be worth almost twice as much as that!
Zoya nail polish
Okay. I am a huge Zoya fan. I love their polishes, I love that they are Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Toluene, Camphor and Dibutyl Phthalate Free. And I really love that they included a full size bottle of nail polish in my first Ipsy bag.
And in a cute colour – I’m just saying.
Yaby concealer refill
I have not tried this concealer yet – but it is definitely the right colour for my skin tone. I don’t have any cases to add this pan to, but if I come across more of this style of pan, I could always make a magnetic bottom case to hold them in.
NuMe finishing serum
I did test out this product – the day I received the Ipsy bag I had to wash my hair, so I towel dried it…added a few drops of serum and wrapped it up in my turbie twist and called it a night. I definitely have issues with dry hair, especially when it’s as long as it is right now. I noticed a small difference in the feel of the ends, but that could also just be wishful thinking. I want to try this product again when I will be washing my hair in the morning, to see what it’s like during the day. Part of the Ipsy glam bag is additional coupons that can be used to order full sized products – this month Nume is offering a 60% discount, so I would definitely like to grab some more if it works well with my hair.
Juice Beauty reflecting gloss
Ohh la la. I do enjoy a nice lip balm and I really, really enjoyed this one. It’s soft, incredibly lightly scented, not tacky on the lips and really moisturizes. I do believe that this was not quite a full sized container, but it’s definitely a fabulous sample. I have it on my desk at work so that I can gloss it up before meetings
Pacifica roll on purfume
Seriously? I have not had a roll on purfume since i was a kid and my mum would give me her Avon samples. This is adorable. Super cute packaging, simple to apply and the scent is really nice. I was worried when I first smelled it that it would be overpowering or give me a headache. Once applied though, it fades to a nice vanilla waft (I was sent the Island Vanilla sample). This is definitely taking up residence in my purse.
All in all, I loved EVERYTHING about this Ipsy bag. Do i think i got $10 worth? I think I got more than that. I will absolutely be keeping my subscription for another month. If anything, the beauty about this bag is that I will be given samples of products that I might not ever know about otherwise. If I like them, there’s a high chance that a coupon is included to purchase full sized products. Its a win-win.
Well, you know, except for my bank account.
For the record, I did not get paid for this review. I did however pay for the Ipsy account and wait by my mailbox for the delivery. All words and thoughts are my own. If you would like to sign up for an Ipsy account of your own, please, please, please use my referral link!
